UNICEF UK have awarded Cockshut Hill the Rights Respecting School Award at Gold level. Cockshut Hill now join just 15 other Secondary schools across England and only one other across the Midlands in obtaining the award at this level. The accreditation visit took place in June but Gold reports must be verified by the Accreditation and Standards Committee which took place in August over the summer break.
The report praised their strong leadership and commitment to the Convention on the Rights of the Child across the whole school. Student voice effectively driving change across school was also highlighted, as was the focus on securing the very best outcomes for children with a particular focus on health, wellbeing and equality. The accreditors found Cockshut Hill to have an ethos of ‘inclusivity, emphasising respect, equality and fairness’. Staff and students at Cockshut Hill now look forward to working with all schools across the trust to move towards securing the award at Gold level.
Congratulations to the students and staff at Cockshut Hill who have worked tremendously hard to achieve this award!
